it’s a little over midnight right now. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is on TV, but muted while i listen to some Assemblage 23 music and study. it’s raining outside, and will supposedly rain all of next week. it’s the middle of the first of two big rainy seasons here. the weather is in the 80’s which isn’t usually bad, but the humidity here is very high. actually, walking around outside isn’t too bad, but once i walk indoors where the temperature is cooler, i suddenly feel very very hot XD i’m thankful for air-conditioning!
i did some studying today, and then during the evening, i went to dance practice at my church. we learned cha-cha, which i’ve learned before. it was still fun and i got to meet some new people. we have a great dance teacher who is an amazing dancer! she’s taught us cha-cha, jive and also rumba π i’ve been going to these practices every Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesdays we have been practicing for a performance some of us will give at a big event/meeting/gathering thing at church. it should be fun doing the performance, and hopefully i won’t get nervous XD
changed the music to Iris, and might change it again before i finish this post…
the studying i did was for my level 3 Korean class that i started a few weeks ago. i enjoy all my classmates and my teacher a lot. and two of my class-mates were from my last class. i’m still the only one from the US. there are 4 from China, 1 from Thailand, 1 from Brazil (though he’s full Korean), 1 from Japan, 2 from Mongolia, 1 from Spain, and 1 from Kazakhstan. the class is tougher than level 2, but, so far, not as tough as i thought it would be. i still have trouble understanding a lot of what the teacher says, but it seems to be mainly a matter of not knowing the words. when i do recognize all the words, she can speak very fast and i’ll still understand. so i guess i’m progressing some? though speaking is still tough for me too…
before the Pirates 3 movie started, there was some Harry Potter preview thing that was all about Hermione; mainly showing clips and talking about the character. there’s been an increase of advertising for Harry Potter since the new movie opens in just a few days here. i’m actually very excited about it! π i think it’s fairly popular with the current college students and younger people here, but a lot of the Korean friends i’ve met here have no interest in Harry Potter π oh well. in the US (and i guess everywhere) there are people who don’t care for the series XD
hmm… ah, i also read a tutorial on HTML 5 and CSS 3 which was pretty interesting. if you don’t know what those are, they’re programming languages for creating the front-end of webpages. HTML 5 isn’t fully ready, and only a few web browsers support parts of it. though once full support happens, there will be many parts of webage making that will become much easier to do. but, after reading the tutorial, i started wondering how quickly everyone in the world will go and upgrade the web browsers once HTML 5 and CSS 3 support is implemented. if they don’t upgrade, then there will be the problem of having to code to the HTML 4 and CSS 2 standards…
i’ve seen Pirates 3 four or five times, and the Jack Sparrow death/dream sequence still makes no sense… XD even with some confusing parts in the movie, i still like it and could watch it over and over :p
switched the music again to State of the Union. specifically Timerunner, which is one of my favorite songs π
it’s after 1am already. i got distracted while looking for an image to add to this post, and ended up making the Final Fantasy 13 wallpapers widescreen size in photoshop… anyway, the Smoothie King tag-line is pretty fun in an odd sort of way XD their smoothies are good too π
